Getting started

What is Provyn?: Provyn is a verified-credential platform for engineers. You take a timed, role-specific assessment once, earn a verified credential with a real score and percentile, and share that credential anywhere: LinkedIn, your resume, an interview reply. Recruiters search the verified directory and reach out directly.
How do I sign up?: Visit /signup, enter your email, and we send you a one-time sign-in link. Click the link, pick an assessment, and start. No password to remember; magic links every time.
Is there a free tier?: Yes. Every candidate gets one free assessment with a full credential. Pro unlocks unlimited retakes plus your full percentile rank.
How long do assessments take?: 60 to 90 minutes depending on the role. Each assessment is timed; you cannot pause once started. We recommend a quiet hour with a stable connection.

What kinds of questions are on an assessment?: Multiple-choice, short-answer, code, ordering, matching, scenario-based incident response, and fill-in-the-code. Every assessment is designed by senior engineers and tuned against real interview signal.
Can I retake an assessment?: Free tier candidates get one attempt per assessment. Pro candidates get unlimited retakes; the highest score wins on your public profile. Recruiters see your best result.
What is webcam proctoring?: An optional integrity layer. When you opt in, we capture up to 10 low-resolution snapshots during the attempt. Snapshots are visible only to admin reviewers and never to recruiters. Opting out is fine; your credential just won't carry a Proctored badge.
What happens if I fail?: You see your score and percentile. The credential is private to you (not added to the recruiter directory). On Pro, retake whenever you want.

Who can see my credential?: Anyone with the credential URL. The page is public so you can paste the link in an email or on your resume. Recruiters can verify your score in one click without logging in.
Can I delete a credential?: Yes. Settings -> Account -> Delete account hard-deletes every credential after a 7-day soft-delete grace period. Or contact provyn.app@outlook.com to delete a specific credential.
How do you prevent cheating?: Every code answer runs through AI-likelihood and plagiarism heuristics; tab-blur, paste, and copy events are tracked; lockdown mode is available; webcam proctoring is optional. Admin reviewers grade flagged attempts.
Are credentials verified by a third party?: The credential is verified by Provyn. The test was timed, scored, and proctored on our infrastructure. Recruiters can confirm authenticity at the public credential URL. Identity Verified candidates have additionally passed Stripe Identity (government ID).

How do I get recruiter access?: Sign up at /recruiters with your work email + company. Approval is manual. A member of our team reviews each request within one business day. Once approved, you get access to the verified-candidate directory + shortlisting + ATS push.
What does $149/mo include?: Recruiter Pro: searchable directory of verified candidates, shortlists, percentile filters, ATS push to Greenhouse/Lever/Ashby, public Bearer-auth API, and webhook fan-out for credential.passed events. 30-day free trial.
Can I cancel anytime?: Yes. Manage subscriptions from /recruiter/billing -> Manage subscription (Stripe customer portal). Cancellation is immediate; you keep access through the end of the paid period.
Can my whole team use one account?: Each recruiter has their own account, but team-scoped shortlists are visible to every approved member of your recruiter team. Invite teammates from /recruiter/team — they get their own login and join your team automatically once they accept. We're working on per-seat pricing for larger teams; reach out to provyn.app@outlook.com.

How does the 30-day trial work?: Recruiter Pro starts with a 30-day free trial. Add a card at signup; we don't charge until day 30. Cancel anytime during the trial and you won't be charged.
What is your refund policy?: 14 days, no questions. See /refund-policy for the full text including AppSumo deal terms.
What payment methods do you accept?: All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. We don't store card details ourselves; Stripe is PCI-compliant.

Can I download my data?: Yes. Settings -> Account -> Download my data returns a JSON file with your row, every assessment attempt, the last 90 days of email log, and your funnel events. GDPR Art. 15 / CCPA section 1798.110 compliant.
How do I unsubscribe from marketing email?: Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email, or visit Settings -> Email Preferences. Transactional emails (sign-in links, credential confirmations) keep flowing; those are not optional.
How do I delete my account?: Settings -> Account -> Delete account. This is a soft delete with a 7-day recovery window. After 7 days a daily cron hard-deletes the row plus any linked submissions and shortlists.
Where is my data stored?: Airtable (US-East) for the row data, Upstash Redis for sessions, Resend (US-East) for email delivery. We do not sell or rent your data.
